Based on a dedicated C++ POSIX platform, the SDK enables powerful hardware abstraction, minimizing the time and effort spent creating multiple device specific versions of games caused by device fragmentation. N-Gage represents an easy content path to create rich, 3D games, and it allows developers to focus on what really matters — the quality, width, and breadth of the gaming experience. Nokia provides full developer support with regular SDK releases, easy-to follow game requirements, and a dedicated developer portal and forum.

The platform includes enhanced capabilities and user-friendly searching, purchasing, sharing, and installation of high-quality rich games, as well as connected gaming with instant access to a global mobile gaming community. At launch the N-gage developer program is restricted; however this will change as the platform matures, and API’s migrate to the public domain.
